Staffing
Little Treasures is staffed by fully qualified members of Charford First School who also work in a variety of roles within school.
A child to staff ratio is arranged in accordance with the number of places available and the Early Years Foundation Framework. This is a statutory 1:8 for Early Years and 1:10 for Years 1-4 reflecting good practice.
Once the maximum numbers have been reached, places will be closed as we need to ensure the welfare and safety of the children attending. For safeguarding reasons, we cannot exceed staff/pupil ratios. This is reviewed each half-term and if spaces do become available a message will be emailed out to parents. We do not hold a waiting list.
During each session at least one member of staff will hold a Food Hygiene and Paediatric First Aid certificate. All staff hold a current DBS check and attend yearly safeguarding training to adhere to the school’s Safeguarding Policy.
A member of the school’s Senior Leadership Team is always on-site during sessions opening times.
Food Provision
The children are offered a variety of healthy snacks and drinks during each session. A copy of the weekly menu can be seen displayed on the information board within Little Treasures kitchen area. The menu is designed and takes into consideration the School Food Standards recommendations.
Little Treasures will cater for all children including those who have allergies, intolerances or other food requirements. It is of upmost importance that we are kept up to date with any food allergies/intolerances or dietary requirements. We cannot be held responsible if details are not kept updated. To ensure the safety of all children with severe allergies, we ask that parents do NOT send outside snacks into the club unless previously agreed by a member of staff.
Sickness and Medication
During each session at least one member of staff holds a Paediatric First Aid certificate. If a child becomes unwell during a session it is expected that a parent/carer will be available to collect or plan for collection. Every attempt will be made to keep the child comfortable. We will use the emergency contact details provided when registering.
Little Treasures cannot hold, store or dispense non-prescription medication. We are able to administer prescribed medication in-line with school’s medication policy.
Specific Individual Needs
Little Treasures believes it is important to operate a provision which is fully inclusive. Our environment provides opportunities for all children to be included in the setting. Where a child has a specific need, a place will be based on agreeing that the environment is appropriate, and support networks are in place if needed and the staffing levels can support the needs of the child.
Behaviour
Little Treasures is seen as an extension to the school day. Whilst we recognise the importance of the provision being more relaxed and a less formal experience for the children, we still expect the same level of high expectations of behaviour and follow the school’s core Charford Values which enables the children to enjoy the sessions in a safe, welcoming and structured environment.
The School’s Behaviour Policy applies to Little Treasures, and we reserve the right to withdraw a child’s place whose behaviour endangers themselves or others.
Complaints
Little Treasures aim to provide a safe and happy environment for all children who attend. We hope that through our open approach that, we will rarely receive complaints. However, if a parent/carer has any concerns about any aspects of the provision, or have a complaint, then please approach a member of staff or, the manager Miss Mace directly. All complaints will be taken seriously and treated with confidentially and sensitivity.
